What Is the Asbury Park Zombie Walk?
About the Event
With thousands of attendees, the Asbury Park Zombie Walk is one of New Jersey’s most infamous events. It takes place on the first Saturday of October and includes a parade, live music, a “Thriller” dance workshop, and a Jell-O brain-eating contest. Despite its gruesome nature, the event is family-friendly and welcomes zombies of all ages.
The parade kicks off at the Convention Hall and continues down Asbury Park Boardwalk toward the Carousel House. From here, zombies turn up Cookman Avenue and head to downtown Asbury and Press Plaza. The walk usually ends at a local bar or restaurant where you can mingle with adult zombies at the after-party.
Did you know? World Zombie Day is October 26th! The holiday was created in 2008 and calls for zombie walks all across the globe, with over 30 cities and 7,500 zombies participating annually.
Look Your Bloody Best
The Asbury Park Zombie Walk is a great excuse to dress up and let loose! Many participants arrive in full costume, lurching, stumbling, and dragging limbs. Some even slur calls for “braaaaaains”. You’ll see everything from undead Santas to Disney princesses and zombie brides.
Not sure how to create the perfect zombie look? There’s no need to worry. Professional zombie makeovers are available onsite. Stop by the Convention Hall and choose from a $15 basic makeover, $30 gross makeover, or a $50 total zombie makeover. You can check out photos and videos online, too! Be sure to arrive at the Conventional Hall early; makeovers are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
