What You’ll Discover at Jenkinson’s Aquarium
1. Animals & Exhibits
Jenkinson’s Aquarium is the perfect place to learn about New Jersey’s marine life. In the Local Fish exhibit, you’ll see fish, sharks, and other creatures that call this region home. (Keep your eyes peeled for Ace the sea turtle!) Next, check out the Pine Barrens exhibit. This display focuses on the ecosystems of Pinelands National Preserve, an area that encompasses over one million acres of farms, forest, and wetlands.
Did you know that Jenkinson’s also offers a close-up look at animals from around the globe? Browse exhibits with Atlantic and Pacific sharks, coral reefs, African penguins, and more! You can even bring the kids to the touch tank and admire everything from sea stars to stingrays.
2. Events & Tours
The Aquarium hosts a wide range of events throughout the year. Whether you visit for World Oceans Day in June or Shark Awareness Day in July, there’s always something to celebrate! Check the online calendar and plan your trip accordingly. Some of our favorite events include:
- Tea by the Sea: Enjoy afternoon tea and snacks with a visit from ambassador animals! This event is held frequently and pre-registration is required.
- Behind the Scenes Tours: Discover what goes on behind the scenes at the aquarium as you tour the building. Pre-registration and sneakers are required.
3. Educational Programs
If you’re traveling with young children, consider taking advantage of the Aquarium’s educational programs. Summer camps, animal encounters, and feeding experiences are sure to leave your family with lasting memories!
