Our Favorite Jersey Shore Restaurants

Ocean Grove

Less than two hours south of New York City, Ocean Grove provides an authentic taste of the Jersey Shore. This historic seaside village offers everything from savory pies at Burbelmaiers to artisan sandwiches at Osteria Procaccini. No matter what you order, a trip to one of the best Ocean Grove, NJ, restaurants will have you coming back for more.

SeaGrass Restaurant

SeaGrass Restaurant on Main Street boasts some of the freshest seafood available. Its festive, nautical decor pairs perfectly with dishes like baked East Coast cod, seared scallops, and New England clam chowdah. Plus, the eclectic menu changes with the seasons, so there’s always something new to try. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of wine!

Local Tip: The chefs at SeaGrass are happy to create vegetarian or gluten-free dishes for those with dietary restrictions. All you have to do is ask!

The Starving Artist at Days

The Starving Artist at Days on Olin Street is another Ocean Grove classic. Here, guests can choose from a variety of breakfast and lunch staples like omelets, pancakes, salads, and wraps. (A post-lunch ice cream cone is also mandatory!) Enjoy your meal inside or on the lovely garden-facing patio in the summertime.

Nagles

Nagles is a local institution that has been serving up ice cream and American eats for decades. It’s set in a renovated pharmacy and is the perfect place to bring the family. The turkey club sandwich is the most popular menu option, and the chef reportedly makes over 200 a day! St. Lenny’s salad is another great choice with pears, walnuts, and cranberries. Feel free to dine at Nagles’ old-fashioned soda fountain counter or at a table outside.

Bia

With soft lighting, flickering candles, and beautiful ocean views, this romantic bistro is perfect for date night. Diners will find everything from shrimp scampi to filet mignon on the menu. Be sure to ask your server about the seafood ravioli of the day! Bia is open for dinner from Memorial Day until the end of September.

Ocean Grove Bake Shoppe

Craving something sweet? Head to the Ocean Grove Bake Shoppe. This charming café makes their own muffins, pastries, cakes, and cookies. There’s even a specialty coffee bar! The Shoppe is open year-round.

Asbury Park

Just north of Ocean Grove is Asbury Park, a lively town known for its nightlife and entertainment. After years of economic downturn, you can now add to that list an impressive restaurant scene. Asbury’s rustic pizzerias and cozy seafood joints are always bustling! Parking spaces are full, the sidewalks are packed, and empty tables are hard to come by. If you’re a foodie looking for a fix, you better call ahead. Here are the best restaurants in Asbury Park, NJ, to try soon.

Pascal & Sabine

With great food and a classic brasserie setting, Pascal & Sabine is one of the most popular eateries in Asbury. Scrumptious bistro classics like steak frites and coq au vin fill the menu. You’ll also find an extensive wine list, beer, and cocktails. Pop in for brunch or late-night drinks at this French kitchen and you’ll leave feeling full and satisfied.

Stella Marina Bar & Restaurant

It’s no secret that Jersey folks are crazy about Italian food. After all, we do it best! For homemade meatballs, slow-simmered gravy, and fresh pasta like nonna used to make, head to Stella Marina. This lively restaurant is right on the water and always packed. Ask for a table outside and enjoy gorgeous ocean views from the patio.

Cubacan

Cubacan Restaurant & Bar is well-liked for its hip vibe and fabulous cocktails. Stop by during happy hour for tapas/drink specials, or reserve a table on the boardwalk for dinner. Not sure what to order? Indulge in the arroz con pollo with tender meat, saffron-flavored rice, peas, red peppers, and olives. Or, try the hearty Cuban sandwich. Both will send you out happy and lure you back for more.

Moonstruck

Housed in a Victorian-style building with lots of windows and wrap-around porches, Moonstruck is a popular destination for couples. The first floor of this American-Mediterranean restaurant contains a cocktail lounge where guests may enjoy drinks and appetizers. The second and third floors offer two main dining rooms, each with their own bar and al fresco dining in the summertime. Flickering candles, live piano music, and wonderful views complete the romantic setting.

TAKA

In the mood for sushi? TAKA is the place to go. This contemporary Japanese eatery serves up inventive appetizers, entrées, and a wide range of sushi rolls. (If you like spice, we recommend the habanero shrimp roll filled with steamed shrimp, jalapeño, and mango. It’s topped with wasabi mayo and habanero masago. Yum!) TAKA even has a full-service bar and lounge for your late-night sushi and sake cravings.

Cross & Orange

Cross & Orange is a gastropub in the heart of downtown Asbury that offers upscale American fare made from scratch. While the eclectic menu changes each season, staples like the wild boar tacos always draw a crowd. The restaurant’s brunch menu and craft cocktails also provide some much-needed relief after a night out.

Frank’s Deli & Restaurant

Okay, so it’s not the most upscale establishment in town. But if you’re looking for Jersey classics like overstuffed sub sandwiches and pork roll egg & cheese, Frank’s is a must. A family-owned, cash-only luncheonette, this Asbury favorite offers some of the best grub in town.
